Volunteering – General

We pride ourselves on being as thrifty as possible so that the financial donations we receive are maximized for programming, meeting not only the basic need of food but educational and social opportunities to enrich those of all ages in our communities. Your willingness to volunteer your time, expertise, and muscle keeps our dollars in program mode. The work isn’t always glamorous, but it is essential.

How you can help:

  • Clean monthly: Come by once a month to clean floors, bathrooms, cobwebs. What day and time work best for you?
  • Deliver holiday feasts: Deliver to those who can’t travel to us: the day before Thanksgiving each year and December 23rd, 4pm on.
  • Community meals support: Help set up and break down after our large community meals: Texas BBQ (fall), Lunar New Year (January or February), Cinco de Mayo (May).
  • Annual yard sale: Set up and break down our annual yard sale—our single biggest fundraiser of the year, held in late May or early June.
  • Stack firewood: Stack firewood in fall and late winter.
  • Food bank transport: Use your large vehicle or truck to pick up our monthly food bank order in Center Harbor (1st Friday of the month, 10am).
  • Produce prep: Prep and freeze fresh produce for future use (apples, squash, stone fruit, etc.).
