Holiday Treat Sale to Benefit Meals By Donation

Hil and I are going to shake things up from our usual pie sale this holiday season.  We’ve got several sweet (and one savory) options for your Christmas morning or Christmas dinner enjoyment.  Please order by Monday, December 19 for pick up on Friday, December 23, between 5-6:30pm.

Your purchase supports the work we do at The Bearcamp Center to provide meals strictly on a by-donation basis, so all who need (or want) our good cooking can help themselves, filling all bellies.  We are currently providing about 250 meals per week to our community.

Here’s how you can help:  buy yourself a treat (or two! or three!).

Chocolate Whiskey Cake:  this special holiday confection looks unassuming but is big in complex flavor, with coffee, chocolate, whiskey, clove, and even a little black pepper coming together to make a cake that will become part of your holiday dreams for years.  $25

Cranberry Lemon Bars:  these beauties look the festive holiday part with a thick layer of striking cranberry topped with a thin icing of lemon curd.  Perfectly sweet and tart. $24      (8″ x 8″ pan)

Pumpkin Roll with Coffee Cream:  tender pumpkin and spice cake is rolled around an airy vanilla cream with a hint of coffee which really brings out the essence of the cake.  Sprinkled with powdered sugar.    $25

Pear Ginger Pie with Streusel Topping:  the hands-down favorite at Thanksgiving, this pie is packed with thin slices of pear tossed with lots of fresh ginger, subtle spices, and topped with a brown sugar oat streusel.  A handful of cranberries add a festive note.  Juicy, spicy!  $25

Orange Chocolate Babka:  this enriched bread (think yeasted bread with eggs and butter added to the dough so that it’s tender but still has that nice pull of bread) is rolled and braided around chocolate and orange zest before being baked so that each slice has swirls of chocolate.  Eat as a coffee cake or slice and toast for over-the-top breakfast delight.   $20

Christmas Quiche:  scallions and red bell peppers make this quiche pretty enough for your holiday table.  Cheddar cheese and black pepper add a savory kick.  $20
